When it comes to describing a highly-renowned and eminent personality, words do fall short to describe their unrivalled contribution to the education industry. Dr. S S Mantha is one such name who has a massive offering record in the education sector. S S Mantha who is currently working as the Emeritus professor at VJTI, Bengaluru was the Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a National Regulator of Technical Education in India for six whole years. 

His unabated efforts toward promoting skill-based competency modules into seven certification levels where a student can undergo skill-based learning that enhances employability and employment opportunities and also allows them the flexibility to pursue formal education or take up an appropriate job at the end of any level of certification, by developing National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF) has been truly miraculous. Considering him as one of the Masters of Education world won’t go wrong while looking at his peerless academic record. Dr. Mantha’s extensive efforts in developing the NVEQF got recognized by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. 

Dr. Mantha is a prolific writer too and actively writes for all the National newspapers and prestigious magazines on education, science and Technology and Governance. He has more than 250 publications to date in National and International Journals and Conferences to his credit.

Dr. Mantha implemented the first e-governance project, automating the workflows, for the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra in 1995. Adding to it, he provided the IT expertise for IT initiatives of several departments of the Government of Maharashtra. The Citizen Facilitation Centre, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, an e-governance initiative that won many National and International awards was also completed with his expertise amongst others. He currently is the IT Expert for the Department of IT, Government of Maharashtra, and help in implementing a very prestigious Smart City Project in Nagpur.

Moreover, he has also developed a course curriculum for more than 15 sectors and 80 specializations. The skill program developed for Cyber Security is just beyond comparison. The course curriculum developed by him has immense potential to create new job opportunities and aid the “Make in India Program of GOI”.

His unequaled hard work and contribution to the education field get boldly reflected in the pages of his academic career. He holds numerous dignified positions in the highly-valued institution. Some of them include Chairman of the National Technical Committee, NCSSS, and National Cyber Safety, and Security Standards.

•Network, Leadership award in the field of Education, 2010.
•He was recognized as “Lal Bahadur Shastri Exemplar of Integrity” by the ReTHINK India Foundation in 2021.
•Recipient of the 5th National telecom Award in 2011 for “Excellence in Education through e-governance instituted by CMAI and Star News.
•Dr. S S Mantha has been awarded D. Sc (h.c) by VTU, Karnataka in March 2012 and by DY Patil University, Maharashtra in 2014.
