AICTE Launches portal to attract foreign students and showcase Indian universities globally
The University Grant Commission (UGC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) have instructed all Indian Higher Education Institutions (HEI) to enlist in the EducationlNdia portal, an endeavour by the Education Ministry to showcase the strengths of Indian institutions to international students. The portal seeks to assemble all information regarding HEIs open to global pupils. UGC has invited all Higher Education Institutions in India that accept or are open to receiving multinational students to update the relevant particulars on the portal.
According to UGC, the first step of developing the portal is done, and it is keen to be extended for Indian institutions to revamp their institutional profile. It will be compulsory for all organisations accepting international students to keep the All India Survey of Higher Education (AISHE) code employed as a login ID on this portal. Enrollment for students will be optional for browsing via the portal.

When allocating entry submission to any global student, the organisation would request the student to enlist on the portal, if not already enlisted, and render a unique EducationlNdia portal ID (El-lD). UGC stated that a student has to register on the portal only one time even if they are applying or have obtained recommendations from multiple institutions UGC said.
The committee has also expressed that the EducationlNdia portal has created the basic institutional profile for Indian institutions, which takes international students' entrance by uploading from the AISHE platform.
"In the first stage, registration is open for institutions that have admitted international students as per the latest AISHE data. Login id will be the AISHE code and password will be shared by the EducationlNdia at the email id of the HEI registered with AISHE. ln the second stage, the registration will be open for other education institutions that are inclined to register and are otherwise eligible to admit foreign students," reads the official letter of UGC and AICTE.
