India push to become global semiconductor hub got boost as Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand and Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), India signed five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The collaboration design to promote semiconductor education, research and innovation through student exchange, joint research and shared academic program.

The agreement emphasize Graduate Pathway Program where VIT students begin foundation study in electronics or computer engineering and later progress to specialized research at AIT. This structure help them to gain global exposure, benefit from diverse faculty expertise and access advanced laboratories. The program also aim to strength India’s semiconductor talent pipeline, which is very important as country try to develop domestic chip manufacturing ecosystem.

Major highlight of collaboration is establishment of Centre of Excellence in semiconductor technology. These hub not only train students but also act as incubator for innovative research projects, bringing academia and industry more closer. Dual degree, twinning program and joint publication also in agenda, giving students international recognition and bigger career opportunity.

India already set ambitious target to develop semiconductor workforce, aiming produce tens of thousand skilled engineer in next decade. With industries now more dependent on chips for smartphone, electric vehicles and many product, demand for semiconductor specialist rising fast. Such partnership ensure students trained not only in theory but also in practical application, design and fabrication process.

This MoU mark important step for bridging skill gap in one of most critical sector of 21st century. By combine AIT’s international expertise with VIT’s strong academic base, the collaboration promise to prepare new generation of engineer ready to power India’s semiconductor dream.
