PM Modi Urges Self-Reliance, Inaugurates Girls’ Hostel
At the foundation stone laying ceremony of Sardardham Phase-II, Kanya Chhatralaya in Ahmedabad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the important role of education, empowerment, and self-reliance in shaping India’s future. Addressing dignitaries, community leaders, and young students, he described Sardardham’s work as both sacred and transformative, particularly in empowering daughters with opportunities to learn and grow.
PM Modi remembered his early years as Gujarat’s Chief Minister, when girls’ education faced drastic challenges. He stressed on efforts like Kanya Shiksha Rath Yatras and Praveshotsavs, which the rate of school leaving decreased significantly and inspired innumerable daughters towards higher education. Today, he said, its effect is clearly visible because daughters who once enrolled in schools are now contributing to nation building by becoming doctors, engineers and professionals.
The Prime Minister also attracted attention to the struggle against female feticide, describing it as a painful stigma and said that Gujarat removed it through collective social awakening. Today, he mentioned, campaigns like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao are advancing this change, Operation Sindoor, and initiatives like Lakhpati Didi have expanded this movement nationwide, boosting women’s dignity and participation in the economy.
Beyond education and empowerment, Modi focused on self-reliance (Aatmanirbharta), Pushing for citizens to adopt indigenous products under the spirit of Make in India. He requests to traders and families alike to consciously support Indian-made goods, reinforcing that every purchase strengthens the country’s future.
He also mentioned that the government is committed to the employment of the youth, for which steps like Skill India, Startup India, Mudra Yojana and recently launched Pradhan Mantri Developed India Employment Scheme have been taken. In view of the demand for the efficiency of Indian youth globally, Modi emphasized that skills, innovation and self -sufficiency would become the basis of the next major jump of the nation.
The event, in which the message of blessings for daughters and encouragement for youth, reflects the vision of a self -reliant, strong and inclusive India of the Prime Minister.
