UGC Twitter account hacked Third major hack within a week

University Grant Commission's Twitter account was hacked late Saturday night, the third government organization account to be hacked in two days.
The authorized Twitter account of the University Grants Commission (UGC) was hacked in the earlier hours of Sunday. The hackers changed the profile picture and background image of UGC India's Twitter handle. The cyberpunk created a succession of tweets and tagged hundreds of Twitter accounts in his tweets.
The hacker pinned a tweet on the account, which said,
"In celebration for the reveal of the Beanz Official Collection, we have opened up an airdrop to all active NFT traders in the community for the next 24 hours! Welcome to the Garden."

The account has now been revived. After hacking the UGC Twitter account, many tweets regarding NFTs were posted from the account. According to Wikipedia, NFTs are unique cryptographic tokens that exist on a blockchain and cannot be duplicated. · NFTs can represent real-world items like artwork and real estate. NFTs can be bought and sold online, frequently using cryptocurrency, and they are a significantly booming trend in the cryptocurrency market.

UGC is the only grant-making organization with two responsibilities: delivering funds and determining and sustaining higher education standards.
Three Hacking In Two Days
Significantly, it is the third hacking in the past few days. On Saturday (9/4/2021), the Twitter account of the Meteorological Department was hewed by hackers for 2 hours. Last Friday (8/4/2021) night, the Twitter handle of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath's office was for around 29 minutes, and the hacker deleted several tweets during this time. Subsequently, the account was taken back. The UGC Twitter handle has over 2,96,000 followers and is linked to the official website.
This is the third government institution to be hacked in two days.

Meanwhile, a case was filed against the anonymous hackers under applicable sections of the IT Act at the cyber police station in Lucknow. The matter will be probed by a team of experts from the DGP office.
The UP government said the strictest action would be taken against those responsible. Cyber experts are investigating the case.
