UPSC IAS IPS Prelims Exam Tips 2025: The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2025 is fast approaching, scheduled for May 25. The admit cards were released on May 13, and candidates can download them from the official website upsc.gov.in. In addition to preparation, it's crucial to avoid a few common mistakes. Often, minor lapses can hinder your selection. Here are the 7 common mistakes you must avoid:

  1. Mistake in the OMR Sheet – Filling in the roll number or booklet code incorrectly in a rush can lead to severe consequences. Fill it out calmly and carefully.
  2. Improper Use of Time – Don’t spend equal time on every question. Skip the ones you don’t know and come back to them later.
  3. Studying New Topics at the Last Moment – At this stage, revise older topics and take mock tests instead of trying to learn something new.
  4. Ignoring Negative Marking – Incorrect answers lead to negative marking, so think carefully before answering.
  5. Panic Mode – If the paper seems tough, don't panic. Stay confident and keep your composure.
  6. Underestimating the CSAT – Even if you perform well in General Studies, many candidates fail the CSAT. It is mandatory to score 33%.
  7. Forgetting the Admit Card or ID – Without the admit card, a valid photo ID, and a pen, you will not be allowed entry into the exam hall.
