Call for Nominations: UNESCO Prize for Girls' and Women's Education 2024

The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) is now taking submissions for the 2024 UNESCO Prize for Girls' and Women's Education. This award is intended to recognize excellent achievements to advance girls' and women's education globally.

The prize, worth 50,000 US dollars (Rs 41,65,000), aims to recognize people, institutions, organizations, or other entities that have showed exceptional dedication to supporting girls' and women's education. Nominees must have at least two years of operational experience with projects demonstrating scalability and impact.

UNESCO Member States and partner NGOs are encouraged to propose persons or organizations who have made outstanding contributions to girls' education. The reward is consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing inclusive and equitable quality education and gender equality empowerment.

The People's Republic of China and the UNESCO Executive Board will choose two winners for the 2024 prize, each of whom will receive a $50,000 US grant.

Up to three nominees from governments may be submitted for the prize, and UNESCO encourages its member states to hold national nomination procedures and make their chosen candidates widely known.

By May 24, 2024, at midnight, nominations must be made in either English or French via unesco.org/qwe. For further information, contact the prize secretariat at GWEPrize@unesco.org.

Applications for cooperation with UNESCO should be sent by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to the Indian National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO (INCCU) by April 30, 2024. By May 24, 2024, INCCU will review proposals and send suggestions to UNESCO.
