Job Summary

Roles and Responsibilities

• Allocate the subjects to the faculty members well in advance before the commencement of the semester/year.
• Collect lesson plans from teaching staff before the commencement of class work and ensure that the information provided is in accordance with the format.
• Be responsible and accountable for setting and advancing the academic strategy of the Department in line with Faculty and University strategic plans and direction.
• Be an active member of the Faculty Executive Board and contribute to the overall leadership and management of the Faculty: it is expected that Heads of Department will carry functional responsibility for specific agreed cross-cutting Faculty areas.
• Develop and sustain appropriate structures for management, consultation, decision-making and communication with staff and students.
• Promote and represent the University both internally and externally.
• Ensure the best possible student experience through the fulfillment of the university responsibilities concerning students in respect of their admission, instruction, progress and examination; the availability of pastoral assistance, and adherence to the regulations and procedures of Faculties and of the Senate.
• Refresh and develop new programs in order to attract new students and markets.
• Ensure the highest levels of quality, integrity, and ethics in all research undertaken.
• Create a dynamic and forward-looking research environment for both staff and students.
• Ensure that University HR policies and procedures are implemented.
• Prepare course materials, such as syllabus, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Conduct research in a particular field of knowledge and publish findings in professional journals, books.
• Teach courses pertaining to the application of computer science, such as the design and function of computers or operations and research analysis.
• Evaluate and grade students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, and papers.
• Maintain student attendance records, grade sheets and other required records.
• Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
• Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, discussing with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
• Supervise undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and research work.
• Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research-related issues in the Department.
• Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
• Advise students on academic and vocational curriculum along with other career perspectives.
• Provide industrial exposure to the students at all stages through their registration, internship, recruitment and placement activities.
• Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for outside reading assignments.
• Select and obtain materials and supplies such as textbooks and laboratory equipment.
• Serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies.
• Participate in campus and community events, also acting as advisers to student organizations.
• Upgrade your own skills through Trainings, Workshop and FDP’s.
