For students looking to study abroad right after Class 10, the road is different compared with those who go after Class 12 or for postgraduate/PhD-level work. Direct undergraduate admission immediately after Class 10 is rare; instead many institutions abroad expect foundation programmes or the IB/A-Levels with language proficiency tests like IELTS making an appearance. 

Moving into the undergraduate realm (post Class 12), tests such as SAT or ACT often come into play in countries like the USA, combined with language tests like IELTS or TOEFL if the language of instruction is English. 

For postgraduate programmes, especially in fields like STEM or business, you might face the GRE or GMAT, and at this stage your application isn’t just about test scores research experience, statement of purpose (SOP), letters of recommendation and such start to matter a lot. 

If you’re eyeing a PhD or specialized research track, things get even more specialised. There may be subject-tests, supervision fit, foreign language requirements (if the university isn’t in an English-speaking country), and your prior work/research capabilities will be scrutinised.
