GATE qualified students can receive monthly stipend through AICTE postgraduate scholarship scheme
The All India Council for Technical Education has announced the much awaited GATE Scholarship for 2026 and students preparing for postgraduate technical courses are already discussing about it everywhere. This scholarship is mainly for those who clear the GATE examination and plan to pursue programmes like MTech, ME or other AICTE approved postgraduate courses. For many aspirants, this scheme becomes a big financial relief during higher studies.
The biggest highlight of this scholarship is the monthly financial support. Eligible students can receive around ₹12,400 per month as stipend. This amount may not feel very huge in metro cities but it still helps in managing rent, food expenses, books and other academic costs. The support is usually provided for up to 24 months or until completion of the course, whichever happens earlier. For students coming from smaller towns or middle income families, this money can reduce a lot of stress.
To qualify, a candidate must have a valid GATE score and must be enrolled in a full time postgraduate programme at an AICTE approved institution. Part time or sponsored category students normally do not get this benefit. It is important to carefully check eligibility rules before applying because even small mistakes in documents can lead to rejection.
The application process is mostly online. After GATE results are declared, students need to register on the official scholarship portal and fill personal, academic and bank details correctly. Institutes also verify the details before final approval. Students are advised to keep documents like admission proof, GATE scorecard and bank information ready in advance.
Many students say that apart from financial help, the scholarship also adds value to academic profile. Clearing GATE and receiving this stipend shows merit and dedication. However, competition is strong and not everyone who applies may receive it smoothly without document verification.
Students preparing for GATE 2026 should regularly check official notifications so that deadlines are not missed. This scholarship remains one of the few structured monthly supports available for technical postgraduate students in India and it continues to motivate thousands to aim for higher education.
