AIIMS extends INI CET 2026 counselling registration deadline to February 7, offering aspirants additional time.
In a major relief for postgraduate medical aspirants, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences has extended the deadline for the INI CET January 2026 open round counselling registration. Candidates aiming for admission into postgraduate medical programmes now have time until 5 PM on February 7, 2026 to complete the registration and choice-filling process.
The counselling process covers admission to courses such as MD, MS, MDS, DM and MCh offered by institutes of national importance. This extension comes as welcome news for many students who were still arranging documents or finalising their preferences before the earlier deadline.
INI CET is one of the most competitive entrance examinations in the country. It serves as the gateway for postgraduate medical admissions at premier institutes including AIIMS, PGIMER, JIPMER and NIMHANS. For thousands of medical graduates, qualifying the exam and securing a seat through counselling represents the culmination of years of academic effort and clinical training.
The open round plays a particularly important role in the admission cycle. It allows candidates who could not secure a seat in previous rounds or those looking for better specialisation options to participate once again.
