The University Grants Commission (UGC) has added Ayurveda Biology as a new subject in the UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) starting in December 2024. The decision was approved during the UGC's 581st meeting on June 25, 2024, following recommendations from an expert committee.
The addition aligns with the UGC's focus on incorporating traditional Indian knowledge into higher education, encouraging more students to pursue studies in Ayurveda and related fields.
The syllabus for this subject is now available on the UGC-NET website. The five-year integrated BSc-MSc program aims to prepare scholars to write the UGC NET, pursue a PhD, and teach Ayurveda and Biology at universities. The aim is to understand ancient medical systems from a modern molecular biology perspective and design new solutions to make medicine and medical systems more accessible to people.
Syllabus
This Syllabus has 10 units.
The UGC-NET evaluates Indian citizens' eligibility for Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship, and Assistant Professor jobs in Indian universities and colleges. The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the UGC-NET as a computer-based test (CBT).
