CBSE Cancels CBSE-WSO Registration

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a firm step by canceling the registration of CBSE Board School Games Welfare Society (CBSE-WSO), Agra. The board clarified that this society never had its consent or endorsement, and its use of the “CBSE” name was unauthorised and misleading.

According to the official notification, CBSE-WSO’s registration was revoked following a directive from the Registrar of Firms, Societies and Chits in Agra dated December 5, 2025. The society had reportedly organised school games and events under the CBSE banner creating confusion among parents, schools, and students without any formal affiliation.

With this cancellation, CBSE has advised all its affiliated schools to disassociate from CBSE-WSO. Schools are strictly instructed not to participate in, support, or promote any sports events or programmes organised by the society. Any communication, claim, or activity in the name of CBSE-WSO should be considered unauthorised and invalid.

This decision aims to protect the integrity and transparency of school-level sports and activity programmes. By stopping the misuse of its name, CBSE is sending a clear message: only those organisations formally recognised by CBSE can run events under its banner. This protection is especially important for parents and schools who may have been misled by the society’s claims.

For students and school administrators, this means: always verify that any sports or extracurricular event is officially sanctioned by CBSE before registering or participating. Blindly joining events led by unauthorised groups could lead to disappointment, invalid certificates, or worse institutional action.

Overall, CBSE’s action is a reminder that regulatory oversight and authenticity matter in education-related activities and that misuse of institutional names for unofficial ventures will not be tolerated.
