Up to 21 fake universities have been functioning around the nation, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently told the house. In the capital, there are around eight of them. States have been taking steps to stop students from cheating and fraud, and they are also taking the proper punishment against them.

States like Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Puducherry are home to these phony establishments.

The list of fraudulent institutions has been posted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on its official website, ugc.gov.in/universitydetails/Fakeuniversity.

According to reports, the Central government has asked the states and Union Territories (UTs) to take legal action to dissolve these schools in order to stop them from misleading and deceiving students by passing themselves off as universities. According to a news outlet, the UGC has taken additional actions against these fraudulent colleges in addition to warning the public, students, parents, and other stakeholders through social media and UGC websites.
