44 percent of candidates cleared CFA Level II August 2025 first timers fared much better.
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute has announced the result of Level II exam held in August 2025. Out of total 9,898 candidates who appeared around the world, 44 percent has successfully passed the test. The exams was held in 459 computer-based centers across 368 cities, covering 106 global markets.
There was a clear difference in performance between first time exam takers and those who deferred earlier. First-timers scored a pass rate of 52 percent, while the ones who postponed the exam before managed only 28 percent. The ten year average pass rate for Level II is around 46 percent.
Candidates can check their results either through the email sent by the institute or by login into the CFA Institute website using their registered ID. The “Check Result” link is given under the “Exams” tab on cfainstitute.org. It is better to download and keep the score report for future purpose.
The results for CFA Level III (August session) are expected on October 23, 2025. Also, registration for February 2026 exam cycle will stay open till October 29, 2025.
This result once again shows how tough the CFA exams are, specially Level II, which needs deep understanding of financial analysis, valuation and practical application. The difference in pass rate between new candidates and deferred ones maybe showing that fresher preparation gives better outcome.
Candidates are advised to carefully go through their result and plan next steps wisely. Those who cleared can now focus on Level III preparation, while others can identify weak topics and improve problem solving for their next try.
