The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the registration process for the Joint Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (CSIR UGC NET) in June 2024.

The purpose of the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination is to assess an Indian national's eligibility for three types of admission to Indian universities and colleges: "admission to PhD only," "appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD," and "award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor."

The exam, which will be administered by computer-based testing (CBT) on June 25, 26, and 27, 2024, has a question paper that is available in both Hind and English. Every paper lasts for 180 minutes. Each paper will have 150 multiple-choice questions.

There will be five papers in the exam: Chemical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Life Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; Physical Sciences. The details of course codes, eligibility criteria, pattern of question paper, fee, etc. are available in the information bulletin hosted on the exam website.

Candidates planning to sit for the exam can submit the online application till May 21, 2024 on the official website at https://csirnet.nta.ac.in. The last date for payment of fee will be May 23 (upto 11:50 PM)

The correction window will open on May 25, 2024.

The exam fee has to be paid online only through payment gateway using debit or credit cards, internet banking or UPI.

For general category the fee amount is Rs 1,100; other backward class (OBC) is Rs 550; scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) is Rs 275.

“Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. In no circumstances candidates will be allowed to fill more than one Application Form. Strict action will be taken, even at a later stage, against such candidates who have filled in more than one Application Form. Before applying for Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination June-2024, candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the Information Bulletin carefully. The exam fee is also required to be paid online only through payment gateway using debit/credit cards, internet banking or UPI. Candidates must ensure that the e-mail address and Mobile Number provided in the Online Application Form are their own or Parents/Guardians only as all information/ communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS on the registered Mobile Number only,” states the NTA notification.

Here is How to Apply:

Step 1- Log in to csirnet.nta.ac.in

Step 2- Click on the link available for filling out the application form

Step 3- Click on the ‘New Registration’ button

Step 4- Download the CSIR NET information brochure and read the instructions on the page carefully

Step 5- Click on the checkbox at the bottom of the page and select on the ‘Click Here to Proceed’ button. On clicking the button, the CSIR NET Registration Form will open on the screen

Step 6- Fill in all the given details asked in the registration form
