Delhi University Opens Online PhD Registration for 2024-25

Delhi University begins online PhD registration for 2024-25. Apply by December 4. Admissions based on UGC NET scores. Interviews start December 6.

The online PhD registration process has begun at Delhi University. To apply, students interested in pursuing PhD programs at DU should go to the official website.

Students will be able to apply online till December 4. However, students are suggested not to wait till the last date and fill out the form at the earliest to avoid last-minute discrepancies.

The application cost for SC/ST/PwD applicants is Rs 300, while General/OBC and EWS candidates pay Rs 750. The deadline for paying the application fees is January 14, 2025.

Following the registration procedure, the interview round will commence on December 6. Interviews will be performed by the departments and centers until January 4, 2025. Candidates enrolling will also be required to pay an application fee. The deadline for submission of application fees is January 14, 2025.

DU has decided to use the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) scores for admission to PhD programmes for the academic session 2024-25. The NET marks of candidates in categories 2 and 3 will be valid for one year for admission to PhD programmes. For admission to PhD programmes, the weightage will be 70% for NET marks and 30% for interview marks.

Based on their NET scores, candidates will be eligible in three categories – JRF (Junior Research Fellowship), Assistant Professor, PhD Admission.

Category-1: Award of JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor: NET qualified candidates are eligible for all three – JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD Admission. 

Category-2: Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD: NET-qualified candidates are eligible for Assistant Professor and PhD Admission but not JRF. 

Category-3: Admission to PhD only: NET-qualified candidates are eligible for PhD Admission, not JRF or Assistant Professor.
