Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat: Hundred Students from Across India Join

The Ministry of Education is organizing a week-long educational-cum-cultural visit to Auroville under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB), based on topics from the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the ongoing celebrations of Sri Aurobindo's 150th birth anniversary.

94 students from eight Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) will participate in the EBSB-Auroville experience tour from January 29 to February 2, 2024. The trips will focus on giving the students a comprehensive understanding of Sri Aurobindo's unique idea of integral education and its application at Auroville, a globally significant experimental township.

The excursions will be organized by the Auroville Foundation, an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Education, in partnership with the participating higher education institutions.

Auroville, founded in 1968, is a universal town where people of all countries can live peacefully and harmoniously. It aims to realize human unity in diversity, based on the life, work, and direct action of Sri Aurobindo and his spiritual collaborator, the Mother.

Auroville aligns with the goals of the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Programme, where unity is celebrated amidst the diversity of cultures and languages. The tour offers participatory and immersive learning experiences, including visits to Auroville units producing sustainable products, Sadhana Forest, Botanical Gardens, and Art and Culture centers.

Students will also get a taste of eclectic aspects of the township, such as architecture, planning, education, and waste management systems. Key highlights of the tour include visiting Matrimandir, the spiritual core of Auroville, and Pondicherry Sri Aurobindo Ashram.

The tour aims to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation among students of the significance of integral education, spirituality, and values in contributing to nation building.
