New Delhi: After an AAP-BJP flashpoint over no books being provided to corporation school students in Delhi, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) strongly refuted the claims and termed them fake. CD had given the requisition of textbooks to the Delhi government-run agency Delhi Bureau of Textbooks (DBTB) at the start of the academic session. DBTB started the delivery of textbooks in June. An additional demand of textbooks had been put up with DBTB as well and the delay in getting textbooks was at the end of DBTB.

As per an official statement, it is hoped that the books will be provided shortly and the little number of schools where the problem has surfaced will be duly supplied with textbooks.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi's education department has claimed to be effective and scientific methods for the teaching of students in its schools resulting in record-breaking enrollment in the current academic session.

The total number of students studying in municipal schools has crossed 9,10,000 which is the highest in the last five years.

MCD runs various welfare schemes for students studying in its schools like free textbooks, free uniforms etc. For running these welfare schemes for the academic session 2022-2023, MCD needs Rs 162 crore out of which the Delhi government has provided only Rs 37.5 crore, which Is less than 25% of the required amount.

Before the unification of the erstwhile three corporations of Delhi, SDMC directly deposited the amount meant for purchasing uniforms in the account of students. But due to the non-release of funds from the Delhi government, erstwhile North Corporation and East Corporation failed to transfer the uniform purchasing amount into the bank accounts of the students.

As per the official statement, as soon as the Delhi government provides funds related to purchasing uniforms, the same will be transferred to students.
