IIMs introduce three admission routes for MBA 2026 to simplify and expand candidate options.
IIMs Unveil Flexible MBA

The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have revamped their MBA admission process for 2026, offering candidates multiple pathways to apply  marking a significant shift from the traditional single-track system. Under the new scheme, aspirants can choose from three distinct routes: the newly introduced Joint Admission Process (JAP), the existing Common Admission Process (CAP), or a fallback Supplementary Admission Process (SAP).

JAP 2026 coordinated by IIM Raipur allows candidates to apply to multiple IIMs (specifically IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi and IIM Tiruchirappalli) with a single application. Shortlisted candidates will then go through a joint Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI), replacing the need for separate rounds at each institute.

The selection under JAP will weigh in the candidate’s performance in the national entrance exam (Common Admission Test – CAT), past academic record, work experience and diversity considerations offering flexibility and convenience, especially for those targeting more than one IIM. Meanwhile, CAP and SAP will continue to serve those applying via traditional or supplementary routes.

By introducing multiple admission routes, IIMs aim to reduce application stress, avoid repeated interview schedules and make the MBA admission process more accessible for aspirants. For students, this means increased freedom to choose institutes without juggling multiple forms or rounds potentially widening opportunities and simplifying planning for MBA 2026.
