On Saturday, the Union Ministry of Education and Abu Dhabi's Education and Knowledge Department (ADEK) signed an agreement to establish an IIT Delhi campus in the Gulf country. Currently, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a formal visit.

After IIT Madras, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is the second IIT to announce the establishment of an offshore campus. IIT Madras inked an MoU last week to establish a campus in Tanzania's Zanzibar.
"In the presence of Hon. PM @narendramodiji, the MoU for the establishment of the @iitdelhi campus in Abu Dhabi opens a new chapter in the internationalization of India's education," Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's Twitter.
"An exemplar of #NewIndia's innovation and expertise, the IIT Delhi campus in UAE will be an edifice of India and UAE friendship. It will set a new template for leveraging the power of knowledge for mutual prosperity and global good as envisioned in NEP," he added.
