The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) is accepting applications for admission to its postgraduate course in Society and Culture for the academic year beginning in July 2024.

MA (Society and Culture) (https://hss.iitgn.ac.in/masc/) is a one-of-a-kind curriculum that prepares students for a number of positions across several areas.

The deadline for the MA (Society and Culture) is February 10, 2024. Students having a bachelor's degree in any subject can apply using this link: https://admissions.iitgn.ac.in/pgadmission/.

Highlighting the unique qualities of the programme, Professor Vikrant Jain, Head, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Gandhinagar, said, "Interdisciplinary knowledge and skills greatly enhance our ability to think innovatively and solve problems. IIT Gandhinagar's courses are designed with this flexibility and interdisciplinary focus, broadening the educational experience. The MA in Society and Culture program encourages students to develop varied perspectives on social and cultural issues, enabling a deeper understanding of different academic disciplines' interconnections.”

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The key career opportunities and research options available to MA in Society and Culture students include:

  • Working with non-profit sector (NGOs, policy think-tanks), industry roles such as Journalism, Advertising/media, Communications, Writing, Human Resources
  • Academic roles such as Teaching or Research in Ecological Sciences and Public Policy, among others
  • International PhD opportunities

IIT Gandhinagar offers generous financial aid as well as a 'On-Campus Employment Opportunities' program to its students. The Institute also encourages MA (Society and Culture) students to present their research work at international conferences overseas and gives travel scholarships worth up to Rs 60,000/-.

 

The MA in Society and Culture degree introduces students to essential Humanities and Social Sciences subjects such as history, cultural studies, literature, translation studies, sociology, political science, and anthropology.
