India’s IITs Delhi and Bombay Shine in QS Asia’s Top 50 Rankings

In the QS Asia University Rankings 2025, India is the most represented country, with 162 universities out of 984 listed institutions. This is a big success in terms of raw numbers, since India has surpassed China, which has 132 universities in the rankings.

Despite their considerable presence, only two Indian colleges have made it into the top 50. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is ranked 44th, followed by IIT Bombay at 48th. These rankings illustrate India’s expanding academic presence in the area, but they also highlight the difficulty Indian colleges have in reaching the top of the list, which is frequently dominated by schools from Singapore, Hong Kong, and China.

The rankings reflect a blend of quantity and quality, with India positioned as a regional educational powerhouse with the potential for further growth in global academic standards.
