The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has seen a significant increase in its National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking from 27th to 15th place, marking a record improvement since 2016.

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal expressed confidence that the institute will soon transform into a world-class institution contributing to India’s growth in trade and investments. The institute has taken several measures to improve its teaching, learning, resources, research, professional practices, graduation outcomes, outreach, inclusivity, and perception.

IIFT is on the path of rapid transformation into a world-class B-School with a special focus on international trade and business, offering highly sought-after educational programs such as Ph.D., MBA (International Business), MBA (Business Analytics), and MA Economics specialising in International Trade and Finance. As part of new initiatives, the institute is establishing a state-of-the-art Centre for International Negotiations (CIN) to provide training to corporates and policy makers on international negotiations. Additionally, the institute is establishing a Foreign Trade Case Study Centre (FTCSC) to work closely with exporters, governments, and businesses to develop world-class case studies.

The institute plans to work closely with governments, central and states to conduct insightful research on contemporary issues and offer high-end capacity building programs. Export promotion organizations like APEDA have expressed interest in sponsoring PhD students in the area of contemporary research interest. IIFT is also considering launching an offshore campus in Dubai with active support from the Department of Commerce and Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
