JEE Main 2026 Session One Dates Revised

The National Testing Agency has issued an important update for students preparing for one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations. The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 exam schedule has been revised, offering aspirants a clearer roadmap to finalise their study plans, travel arrangements, and overall preparation strategy as the examination season approaches.

As per the revised timetable, the first session of JEE Main 2026 will now be conducted between January 21 and January 29, 2026. The second session, which allows candidates an additional opportunity to improve their scores, is scheduled to take place from April 2 to April 9, 2026. The updated timeline slightly alters the earlier plan and provides much needed clarity to students who have been preparing for months.

For Session 1, Paper 1, which is meant for B.E. and B.Tech aspirants, will be held on selected dates within this window including January 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28. The examinations will be conducted in two shifts each day. The morning shift will run from 9 am to 12 noon, while the afternoon shift will take place from 3 pm to 6 pm. This structure is designed to manage the large number of candidates appearing for the exam across the country.

Paper 2, which is conducted for candidates seeking admission to B.Arch and B.Planning courses, will be held in a single shift on January 29. This examination will be conducted from 9 am to 12:30 pm.

Along with the revised dates, the agency has also released the city intimation slip for Session 1. This allows candidates to check the city in which their examination centre has been allotted, helping them plan travel and accommodation in advance. It is important to note that the city slip is not the admit card. The official hall ticket is expected to be released separately in early or mid January and will include complete details such as exam centre address and shift timing.

For many students and families, even minor changes in the examination schedule can significantly affect preparation routines and logistical planning. With lakhs of aspirants competing for limited seats in leading engineering institutions, a clear and confirmed schedule allows candidates to focus on revision, mock tests, and final preparations.

Experts advise students to regularly monitor official portals for updates and avoid unnecessary panic. Staying informed, organised, and calm during this crucial period can play a key role in performing well on the exam day.
