Ministry of AYUSH applicants can choose five preferences; changes after scholarship award are not allowed
Ministry of AYUSH has announced 104 scholarships for foreign students under the AYUSH Scholarship Scheme for the 2026–27 academic session. The initiative aims to promote traditional Indian systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy by enabling international students to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programmes in India.
Scholarship Benefits
The scheme offers financial support at different academic levels:
Undergraduate (UG): ₹18,000 monthly stipend, HRA of ₹6,500 (Grade I cities) or ₹5,500 (other cities), and ₹5,000 annual grant
Postgraduate (PG): ₹20,000 monthly stipend and ₹7,000 HRA
PhD: ₹22,000 monthly stipend, HRA of ₹12,500 (Grade I cities) or ₹10,000 (other cities)
A one-time ₹7,000 grant is also provided for thesis or project work where required
Application Process
Candidates must apply online through the A2A portal managed by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in). Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted. Only one application per candidate is allowed; multiple submissions may lead to rejection.
Applicants should carefully fill in all details and upload required documents, including a passport-size photograph. They are also advised to check course eligibility, duration, and requirements on the respective university websites before applying.

Course and Institution Selection
The scheme covers courses in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy, along with select programmes in Indian languages, arts, and culture. It does not cover medical sciences, paramedical courses, law, or integrated programmes.
PhD applicants must submit a research proposal, preferably focusing on India-based study. Candidates applying for performing arts must provide a recent performance video or link. If required, applicants must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities at their own cost.
Compliance and Responsibilities
Selected candidates must meet medical fitness standards, complete visa formalities, and follow all academic and conduct rules during their stay. Any violation may lead to cancellation of the scholarship.
The Ministry stated that this initiative is part of India’s broader effort to promote global engagement with its traditional systems of medicine.
