Ministry of Education Announces Reconstitution of JEE Apex Board

The Ministry of Education has reconstituted the JEE Apex Board (JAB) and administrative framework for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) .

Reconstitution of the JEE Apex Board (JAB) board and administrative framework for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in IITs, NITs, and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) was recently announced by the Ministry of Education.

According to sources, the JEE Apex Board (JAB) was reconstructed after the previous JAB's term ended to guarantee the efficient administration of the JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced) Entrance Examinations for the years 2024 and 2025.

All information technology-related (software) support and back-end tasks for pre- and post-examination work, including online application form submission, will be handled by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

When necessary, NTA may request assistance from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), according to a formal announcement from the agency.

Professor SK Jain, VC of BHU has been appointed as the chairperson of JAB. Directors of IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Madras, NIT Rourkela, NIT Surathkal, IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT (PPP} Lucknow, IIITM Gwalior, representatives of the state government of Madhya Pradesh, Assam /Manipur, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab Engineering College, Chairman of CBSE, Director General of NIC, NTA, and C-DAC, and the Additional Secretary/ Joint Secretary (TE) of MoE have been appointed as members of JAB.

As per the Ministry, the JAB would have a permanent secretariat which would be provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It would be assisted by the JEE Interface Group comprising of five members drawn from NTA, IITs and a senior representative of Indian Statistical Institutes (ISI) nominated by the Joint Apex Board.

Additionally, the JEE Apex Board will now work with the JEE (Advanced) organizing and have the last say in all policies, rules, and regulations about the administration of the JEE Main exam. In the interim, JEE (Main) will be conducted nationwide with administrative and logistical support from NTA.
