At Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University for Science and Technology (DCRUST), Murthal, hundreds of students gathered near the main administrative block on Monday and raised strong slogans against the university management. They said they were tired of waiting for basic facilities that have been pending since long time. The atmosphere was tense but controlled, as students sat on the ground and staged a dharna demanding immediate action.

One of the biggest issues highlighted was the poor WiFi connectivity on campus, which students claim has not been working properly for almost two years. Many students said that in today’s digital learning age, stable internet is not a luxury but a necessity. Without it, research work, assignments, and project submissions becomes very difficult. They also complained about the condition of the library, saying several sections need renovation and updated resources.

Apart from this, students pointed out that many laboratories lack proper power backup, causing disruptions during practical sessions. Some software required for technical courses has not been renewed on time, which has directly affected academic work. According to them, these problems are not new, but the administration has been slow in solving them.

Police were present at the campus to ensure the protest remained peaceful. After several hours of discussion, the Vice Chancellor Prof Shree Prakash Singh met with student representatives. He assured them that genuine concerns will be addressed within 15 days. A seven member committee including faculty and student representatives was formed to monitor the progress.

While the protest ended without any violence, many students said they will closely watch whether the promises are actually fulfilled. For now, there is hope, but also slight doubt among them.
