Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan lashed out at the opposition parties after the Supreme Court found that there was no systemic violation of sanctity in the NEET-UG 2024 exam, saying, "The truth always triumphs, even though the cloud of lies may hide the sun of lies for a while." The results and the decision, he continued, "reject the propaganda being spread on this subject."

Opposition leaders have been calling for Pradhan's resignation in Parliament ever since the news of the purported NEET UG and UGC NET 2024 paper leak surfaced. Student unions and other opponents of the National Testing Agency (NTA) staged street protests.

In his post on the microblogging site, X, Pradhan said, “Supreme Court‘s decision that there were no systemic violations in the NEET-UG examination and that there should be no re-examination has vindicated our Government’s stand. The Government of India is fully committed to a “tamper-free, transparent and zero-error examination system”. To ensure this, the Government will implement the recommendations of the high-level committee of experts as soon as they are received.”

“The just decision of the Supreme Court on the NEET-UG exam also completely rejects the propaganda being spread on this subject. We all heartily thank the Hon’ble Supreme Court for protecting the interests of lakhs of hardworking students and giving them justice. We will implement the decision and instructions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in letter and spirit.” he said.

The top court on Friday said it did not cancel the controversy-ridden NEET-UG 2024 examination amid concerns of paper leak because there was no systemic breach of its sanctity.

In its detailed order, the three-judge bench presided by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud flagged the “multiple occurrences in the conduct of the exam” which it said prompted it to arrive at the conclusion. “It is no excuse to say that the exam is conducted in myriad center's or that a large number of aspirants appear for the exam. NTA has sufficient resources at its disposal. It has adequate funding, time, and opportunities to organize exams such as the NEET without lapses of the kind that occurred this year,” said the bench also comprising Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra.

“A body such as NTA which is entrusted with immense responsibility in relation to highly important competitive exams cannot afford to misstep, take an incorrect decision, and amend it at a later stage. All decisions must be well-considered, with due regard to the importance of the decision… flip-flops are an anathema to fairness,” said the bench.
