NIELIT Digital University Launches Five New Centres Inaugurated

New virtual university and centres aim to deliver modern digital education across India’s diverse regions.

In a major push to strengthen India’s digital education infrastructure, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on October 2, 2025, launched the NIELIT Digital University in New Delhi. Along with this, five new NIELIT centres were virtually inaugurated at Muzaffarpur in Bihar, Balasore in Odisha, Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, Lunglei in Mizoram, and Daman in Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.
This expansion aim to democratize advance digital education by making training in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, semiconductors, and other emerging technology accessible beyond India’s metropolitan hub. The new Digital University platform are designed with flexibility on mind, offering virtual lab, interactive module, multilingual option, and industry-align curricula which can reached learners across the country.

To ensure industry relevance, Memorandum of Understanding was sign with leading technology company such as Microsoft, Zscaler, CCRYN, Dixon Technologies, and Future Crime Exchange. This collaborations expected to help co-develop curriculum, provide hand-on projects, and gives smoother employment opportunity for student entering the job market.

Ashwini Vaishnaw stress that NIELIT should active work with the top 500 Indian company under idea of “You Decide What To Teach,” thereby align courses with real world need. He also highlight India rapidly growing electronics manufacturing sector, now value at over 13 lakh crore rupees, pointing the immense opportunity that awaits digitally skill manpower.

NIELIT already have a large footprints, with 56 centre, more than 750 accredited institute, and over 9,000 facilitation centre nationwide. With addition of this new centres and launch of the Digital University, NIELIT capacity to deliver cutting edge course is set to increase significant.

For student in small city and rural area, these initiative promise easy access to world class training and clearer pathways to future career. By reducing geographical and economical barrier, the virtual platform expected expand opportunity for million of learner.

While challenge remain on ensuring consistent quality, maintain infrastructure, and sustaining industry collaboration, the inauguration of NIELIT Digital University and new centre mark an important steps. India is moving more closer to its vision of creating digitally skill generation ready for demands of the future.
