On August 12, 2024, at 3 p.m., the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) will announce the NIRF rankings. Rankings of universities, colleges, and autonomous institutions broken down by category will be accessible on https://www.nirfindia.org/ following their release.
Important criteria for overall rankings are Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR), which includes Financial Resources and their Utilization (FRU), Faculty-Student Ratio (FSR) with a focus on permanent faculty (FSR), combined metric for Faculty with PhD (or equivalent) and Experience (FQE), and Student Strength, including Doctoral Students (SS).
In addition to the Combined metric for Publications (PU), the Combined metric for Quality of Publications (QP), the footprint of Projects and Professional Practice (FPPP), and IPR and Patents: Published and Granted (IPR), Research and Professional Practice (RP) is another important indicator.
Research and Professional Practice (RP) is yet another key parameter that includes the Combined metric for Publications (PU), the combined metric for Quality of Publications (QP), IPR and Patents: Published and Granted (IPR), and the footprint of Projects and Professional Practice (FPPP).
In 2023, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, topped the university rankings in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023. JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia occupied the second and third positions on the list, respectively.
In 2022, too, IISc Bengaluru topped the JNU (68.47 score), and Jamia Millia Islamia (65.91 score) were at the second and third spots, respectively.
Last year, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham ranked fifth with a score of 63.40, followed by BHU, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, at the seventh spot with a score of 62.84.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the MHRD and launched on September 29, 2015.
