PhD (Doctor of Philosophy)

A PhD, or Doctor of Philosophy, is considered the most prestigious academic qualification globally. It signifies deep research expertise and an original contribution to your chosen field of study.

Eligibility and Admission Process
Generally, a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks is required (with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates). Some institutions also offer direct admission after a 4-year undergraduate degree with a minimum of 75% marks.

Key entrance exams include UGC-NET (JRF), CSIR-NET, GATE, and CUET-PhD.

As per the new UGC guidelines, candidates who clear NET may be called directly for an interview — and successful candidates receive regular benefits.

Some universities conduct their own entrance exams or grant admission based on interviews with professors/supervisors.
