The Prime Minister internship program, which offers individuals between the ages of 21 and 24 a total of Rs 66,000 in annual financial aid, is now accepting registrations. Candidates who meet the requirements can register on the portal, and a resume will be created using their information.
Candidates who meet the requirements can apply online at pminternship.mca.gov.in, which was created by the corporate affairs ministry. The registration deadline is October 25.
A shortlist of applicants will be created on October 26. Companies will choose candidates between October 27 and November 7. The chosen applicants will then have between November 8 and November 15 to accept the offer. An applicant may receive up to three offers.
The internship will start on December 2 and expects to cover 1.25 lakh candidates in the current financial year ending March 2025. The PM Internship Scheme aims to provide opportunities in 500 top companies to one crore youth in five years. They will gain exposure for 12 months to real-life business environments, varied professions, and employment opportunities.
Around 90,800 internship opportunities have been offered by 193 companies so far, reported PTI. This includes offers by Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motor, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Muthoot Finance, and Reliance Industries.
The youth will receive an internship allowance of Rs 5,000 per month and a one-time assistance of Rs 6,000. Companies will be expected to pay for the training and 10 percent of the internship costs from their CSR funds.
Anyone who has completed class 12 and has an ITI certificate, a diploma from a polytechnic institution, or a degree such as a BA, B.Sc., B.Com., BCA, BBA, or B.Pharma can sign up for the program. Applicants may also be enrolled in distant learning or online courses. However, students who have a family member earning more than Rs 8 lakh per year in 2023–2024 are not eligible to apply for the internship program.
A 12-month internship will be provided, with at least half of that time spent outside of the classroom in a real work setting. Companies can choose to participate in the program. Each intern will also receive insurance coverage under the Union government's insurance programs, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana. In this case, the government will provide the premium amount.
