Indian students are invited to apply for scholarships offered by the Romanian government for the 2024–2025 academic year. The University Grants Commission (UGC)
Indian students are welcome to apply for scholarships from the Romanian government for the 2024–2025 academic year, the University Grants Commission (UGC) was recently notified.
Up to 20 scholarships will be available to students for a range of graduate-level coursework and research projects. The scholarship would be awarded to each candidate for a maximum of ten months, spread out across three months. The offer is good for the 2024–2025 academic year, according to Archana Thakur's UGC notice.
Nonetheless, the Commission has declared that UGC bears no financial responsibility.
The application must be submitted by April 30, 2024, at the latest. Please refer to the accompanying annexure for further details on the required paperwork for applying for scholarships.
April 30, 2024, is the deadline for submitting the application.
The scholarship grants for students in bachelor’s and master’s degrees would be offered for accredited education programmes in the Romanian language. The preparatory year of the Romanian language is included in the scholarship grants.
The scholarship grants for doctoral studies may also be offered for accredited education programmes in English or French. The preparatory year of Romanian language is included in the scholarship grants, if applicable.
Scholarship grants include:
a. The covering of tuition and enrolment fees;
b. Accommodation in student dormitories, within the limit of the allocated subsidy;
c. A monthly scholarship allowance;
d. Medical assistance in case of medical-surgical emergencies and potentially endemic diseases;
e. Reduced fares for rail and local public transportation, as applied for Romanian students, according to the legal provisions.
Eligibility:
1. Candidates who do not hold Romanian citizenship or the citizenship of a European Union/Swiss Confederation/European Economic Area member state;
2. Candidates who are not members of the diplomatic corps or family members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Romania;
3. Candidates nominated through diplomatic channels, by relevant partners;
4. Candidates who did not benefit from a scholarship granted by Romania for the same study level (Bachelor/Master’s Degree/PhD. studies/post-university studies);
5. Candidates who present study documents issued by accredited/recognised education institutions;
6. Candidates who present study documents that allow the enrolment in Romania for the required field and level of study;
7. Candidates who have good results registered in their previous education process, namely an average of minimum 7 (seven) corresponding to the grading system in Romania or the „Good” mark, if applicable – only for students whose academic results are not indicated by numbers;
8. Candidates who are not above 35 years old – for Bachelor and Master Studies, and above 45 years old for PhD studies or for post-university studies (including for the medical field), by December 31 of the year they were nominated.
For doctoral studies, the enrolment is conditioned by the obtaining of the preliminary agreement from a Ph.D. thesis coordinator and the promotion of the admission exam organised by the host university.
The application file has to be submitted through the Romanian Embassy, in electronic format. The electronic application file will contain copies of the original documents and certified translations in English, French or Romanian, if applicable.
