A number of days in October will see schools, colleges, and other educational institutions closed due to Gandhi Jayanti, Navratri, and Dussehra. In October, parents and students will have the opportunity to schedule certain extended weekends. Find out how many days in October 2024 schools will be closed.
Several schools in West Bengal close for a full ten days during the Durga Puja holiday. October will also bring with it a few state-specific holidays. It is therefore recommended that all students review the state vacation schedule. In October, schools will be closed for five days in observance of several holidays.
On the occasion of Dussehra, the government has announced 13 days of holidays for all schools this year. The government has announced holidays for government schools in Telangana from October 2 to 14. Schools will resume classes again on October 15th.
The first government holiday will be on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. The next day, October 3, there will be a government holiday in many other states of the country including Rajasthan due to Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti. Schools will also remain closed on Mahastami on October 11 and Vijayadashami on October 12.

Apart from this, eight holidays are fixed for those schools which have holidays on both Saturday and Sunday. This month, there will be four Saturdays and four Sundays in October. Some schools have a holiday on the second Saturday. If your school is also closed on the second Saturday of the month, then you can enjoy a long weekend on Dussehra. Some schools have a provision of a holiday or half day on the last Saturday of the month.
