On September 27, 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Minister of Technical Education, Ashish Patel, described the shocking assault by a Sitapur headmaster on an education officer as “extremely unfortunate.” The incident was stemmed from a complaint filed by a staff member accusing Brijendra Verma, the headmaster of Nadwa Primary School in Mahmudabad block, for harassing an assistant teacher.

The Basic Education Officer (BEO), Akhilesh Pratap Singh, had summoned Verma in his office to investigate the allegations. During the hearing, tensions was escalated when the officer pressed Verma for a satisfactory reply. According to Singh, others present was indicating the headmaster was at fault. Suddenly, Verma got enraged, pulled out his belt, and attacked the officer physically. Minister Patel cautioned against prejudging the case based on the short viral video clip, insisting that the CCTV footage, covering the entire span from Verma’s entrance till the assault, needed carefully review. He said the final outcome must hinges on facts, and assurance of impartial inquiry and strict action was promised.

In response, authorities has swiftly suspended Verma and handed him over to police. The minister stated that he had discussed the case with the Basic Education Minister, Sandeep Singh, who was concurred on launching an unbiased investigation.

The case highlight not only a violent escalation of institutional dispute, but also serious questions on workplace harassment, redressal mechanisms, and administrative accountability. Even as the assault drew public attention, the minister’s remarks suggest that the circumstances leading up to the clash should be scrutinized with nuance, so justice can be done.
