A heartbreaking incident shook AC Subba Reddy Medical College in Nellore on October 2, 2025. A first-year MBBS student was found dead in their third-floor hostel room. They had just came back from spending the Dasara holidays at home. The student was sharing a room with three others, but two of them was still away. The only roommate who was present had ate breakfast with them that morning before leaving away for an anatomy practical, thinking they would join later. When the student didn't turned up, the anatomy professor and hostel caretaker went for checking on them and discovered them hanging from the ceiling fan.

According to the student’s parents, they had been unwell recently and had went under treatment before returning back to the hostel. A police case have been registered, and an investigation are underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this tragedy. This incident is a grim reminder of how vital mental health support are in medical colleges. Students faces immense academic pressure and emotional strain, and many struggle to cope on their own.
