TV Narendran, CEO and MD of Tata Steel, has been appointed as the new Chair of IIT-Kharagpur's Board of Governors.
According to a release, TV Narendran, CEO and MD of Tata Steel Ltd., has been named the new chair of the board of governors at IIT-Kharagpur. Director of IIT-Kharagpur VK Tewari stated that Narendran understands the requirements of society and the practical ramifications of an industry-academia merger with a technical school as a man beholding technological and industrial superiority.

We welcome T V Narendran as the new chairwoman of the Board of Governors of IIT Kharagpur, said IIT Kharagpur Director V K Tewari on Tuesday. He recognizes the need of society and the practical ramifications of industry-academia fusion with a technical institution as a man beholding technical and industrial supremacy.
"We look forward to his able guidance, constructive ideations, and supportive encouragement in reshaping this institute for its future aspirations."
Thachat Viswanath Narendran, who has over 34 years of experience in the mining and metals business, is the chairman of Tata Steel Europe and Tata Steel Long Products Limited and has been in charge of managing the organic and inorganic expansion of Tata Steel over the past few years, according to a release from IIT Kharagpur.
Narendran holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta and a mechanical engineering degree from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy.
