UGC’s 2025 List Reveals

In a stern move to safeguard academic integrity, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued its 2025 update listing 21 unrecognized “fake” universities across India. These institutions, lacking legal accreditation, pose significant risks to students who may unknowingly enrol and receive invalid degrees.

The list spans multiple states, with Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh notably having multiple entries. For instance, in Andhra Pradesh, institutions like Christ New Testament Deemed University and Bible Open University of India find mention. This alert serves as a critical reminder for students and parents to always verify a university’s recognition status via the official UGC website or state higher education portals before committing time and money.

Enrolling in an unrecognized institution can result in wasted resources, invalid qualifications, and numerous legal and career consequences. The UGC’s action is also a call to heightened vigilance among regulatory bodies, educators, and students alike. By highlighting these illicit operations, the commission aims to curb their influence and reinforce the importance of accredited, reputable education.
