UPPSC PCS 2024 Prelims Exam Date Announced

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has set the test date for the Combined State/Senior Subordinate Services (Prelims) PCS and review officer/assistant review officer. The test will be held in 41 districts across the state on December 7 and 8, and December 22 and 23, 2024, respectively.

The exam will be held in two sessions: the first session from 9.30 am to 11.30 am and the second session from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The Commission clarified that these are just the preliminary examinations, which are not the basis for determining merit for final admission and are conducted only for the purpose of screening. Due to the non-availability of examination centres as per the standards prescribed in the government order, it was decided to conduct them on multiple days/shifts.

A high-level expert group that was entrusted with assessing the test procedure provided recommendations, which led to the decision to spread out the exams across many days. This committee also suggested a transparent evaluation process after reviewing earlier rulings on multi-shift tests. The UPPSC has thus promised applicants that the assessment procedure will be entirely computer-based and automated, guaranteeing precision and openness free from human intervention.

With just 19 days between the two main exam sessions, this is the first time the UPPSC will administer both tests in a single month. For these tests, there are more than 16.52 lakh registered applicants in total.

The Commission stated that a specific process will be used for evaluation in objective type examinations conducted across two or more days/shifts in order to guarantee purity, quality, and transparency, in accordance with the recommendations of the high-level committee of distinguished experts that the Commission created. The process will be carried out transparently and without human intervention in terms of evaluation because it is built on a computer-based software program.
