India's Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, will inaugurate a Mega StartUp Expo in Kathua, emphasizing the growth of India's StartUp ecosystem.
India's Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, will inaugurate a Mega StartUp Expo in Kathua, the border town sharing its boundaries with Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Punjab. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, and Vice President CSIR, will be present at the event.
The government is working to ensure the sustainability of the StartUp ecosystem under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The number of StartUps in India today is over 1.30 lakh, with more than 100 unicorns. India is rated at number 3 in the world in its StartUp ecosystem. He urged the media community to spread awareness about the enabling StartUp ecosystem in the country.
The Kathua Mega Expo will not only boost StartUps in North India but also promote B towns outreach in StartUp culture. The Minister cited the success of ISRO, including Chandrayaan 3, Aditya Mission, and recently launched XPoSat, as evidence of the enabling environment created in the last 10 years under Modi's leadership. Digitalization and monitoring systems have minimized procedural delays and created an enabling environment for StartUps.
Organized jointly by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), DBT, GoI, and CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu, the event will showcase 25 startups from North India, showcasing their innovations and products. The event aims to create a convergence point for budding entrepreneurs and mentors, fostering innovation, collaboration, and growth.
The event will also be valuable for local youth, college and school students, budding entrepreneurs, young farmers, and women in the Jammu region. It will also encourage the youth to start a career as a StartUp and facilitate the country's self-reliance.
