What Is DUSU?

Delhi University has officially issued notification number 15601, in which Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) Election has been announced to start 2025-26. This election is a major event of the university student political calendar. This notification includes important information like election schedule, propagation guidelines, enrolment process, grievance redressal mechanisms and measures to protect the campus from damage or deformation during the election process.

What is DUSU? Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) is the official representative body of students of most colleges and faculties affiliated to Delhi University. Established on 9 April 1949, DUSU is considered one of the world's largest student organizations, including more than 7 lakh students. It acts as a umbrella organization and conducts elections from August to September every year, in which central councillors are selected from each college along with four prominent officials - president, vice president, secretary and joint secretary.

The importance of DUSU is further enhanced by the fact that it acts like a launchpad for future leaders; Many of its former presidents have moved forward in major political career at the state and national level.
