Anjali of SFI-AISA alliance voices women’s safety, opposes fee hikes, and demands inclusive, student-friendly reforms.
Student politics at Delhi University have long been a stage where diverse voices meets, and this year Anjali, a student from Indraprastha College for Women, emerge as the Left alliance candidate backed by SFI and AISA. Born and raised in Tajpur village of Bihar’s Gaya district, her journey into student activism was rooted on grassroots struggle.
Anjali enter politics during her second year of college, when she protest against the construction of a commercial high-rise on DU land. That moment spark her engagement with larger issue on campus. Over time, she taken stand on matters like reopening DU in 2022 post-pandemic, demanding more safe women’s hostels, and voicing concern during the 2023 IPCW fest harassment incident, which later lead to a proctorial inquiry.
Her activism also extend beyond DU wall. In 2023, she play a role in flood relief effort, highlight her ability to blend social responsibility with political works. For the upcoming election, Anjali’s campaign place strong emphasis on gender justice and equitable education. She promise reforms in grievance redressal system, oppose fee hike, and strongly criticize the introduction of SEC and VAC course along with frequent internal assessment, calling them burden and anti-student.
Her vision are simple yet powerful: make university more inclusive, affordable, and safe for all. By highlight systemic inequality, she strike a chord with students who feels overlooked. Competing with strong contender like ABVP’s Aryan Maan and NSUI’s Joslyn Nandita Choudhary, Anjali represent a different narrative, one that prioritize justice, accountability, and student right over slogan of development alone.
