Cambridge will now consider Indian Class 12 marks for undergraduate admissions, expanding access for students worldwide.
In a major development for Indian students planning to study abroad, the University of Cambridge has announced that it will now accept Class 12 board examination scores for admission into selected undergraduate courses. This change brings new hope to thousands of students who aim to pursue higher education at one of the world’s most prestigious universities.
Previously, Indian applicants were required to complete international qualifications such as A Levels or the International Baccalaureate. While these options are globally recognised, they are not accessible to all students due to cost, limited availability, and lack of institutions offering such programs. By recognising Class 12 results, Cambridge has taken an important step toward inclusivity in global education.
Under the revised admission process, students with strong academic performance in Class 12 can apply directly for undergraduate programs. However, the university has clarified that board marks alone will not guarantee admission. Subject requirements, predicted grades, academic excellence, personal statements, interviews, and course-specific assessments may still be required depending on the chosen program.
Students interested in applying can find complete eligibility criteria, subject requirements, and application guidelines on the official Cambridge undergraduate admissions portal:

The decision also reflects Cambridge’s growing academic engagement with India. The university has recently strengthened research collaboration through academic partnerships and innovation initiatives, further highlighting India’s importance in the global education ecosystem.
Education experts believe this policy change will encourage more Indian students to aim for top global universities while focusing strongly on their school academics. It also reduces dependence on alternative education systems, making international education more accessible.
Students should note that applications will still be submitted through the UCAS platform, and early preparation is crucial due to Cambridge’s competitive selection process. Details related to deadlines, required subjects, and course-wise criteria are clearly mentioned on the official admissions website.
Overall, this move represents a meaningful shift in international education. By recognising India’s Class 12 system, Cambridge has opened its doors wider to talented students and reinforced its commitment to academic diversity.
