CBSE urges punctuality and preparation as over 46 lakh students gear up for exams starting February 17.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has issued an important advisory for students, parents and schools just days before the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations are set to begin on February 17, 2026. With more than 46 lakh students expected to appear for the tests across India and even in several foreign centres, the board’s message is clear, planning and punctuality are key as exam season gets under way.
CBSE has reminded students to reach their designated examination centres by 10:00 AM, since the exams are scheduled to start at 10:30 AM sharp every day. Students arriving late could face issues entering the examination halls, so the board has asked parents to help plan journeys in advance to avoid missing the morning window.
In its advisory, CBSE also encouraged families to factor in possible traffic delays, weather conditions and local events that could affect travel time, especially since several high profile events and conferences are happening across the country during the same period. The board suggested visiting the exam centre ahead of time so students feel comfortable with the route and any security arrangements on the big day.
School authorities have been asked to guide students about following proper protocols and to ensure safe and orderly conduct at the centres. Teachers are expected to support students with last minute tips and reminders, while reminding everyone to carry necessary documents like hall tickets, exam stationery and identification.
Mental stress and anxiety around exam time are common, and experts say that regular routines, sound sleep, and confidence in preparation can help students stay calm. Families are being reminded that a balanced approach with some rest and a good breakfast before the exam can make a positive difference in performance.
This year’s board exams are also accompanied by a broader shift in how answer sheets are assessed, with CBSE moving towards digital evaluation for Class 12 through on screen marking, a step aimed at improving transparency and reducing human errors. However, traditional paper evaluation continues for Class 10.
As exam day approaches, there are expectations that schools, students and parents will work together to make the board examinations smooth and stress free. The advisory reflects CBSE’s intent to provide clear guidance amid a period that can often be overwhelming for young learners and their families.
