CBSE publishes new Class 12 Biology sample paper with 33 compulsory questions in five sections for March 2026 exams.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the sample paper for Class 12 Biology (Code 044) for the academic year 2025-26, offering students a clear window into the upcoming exam format. The actual board examinations begin 17 February 2026, with the Biology paper scheduled for 27 March 2026.
The sample paper is structured around 33 compulsory questions, divided into five sections:
Section A: 16 questions of 1 mark each
Section B: 5 questions of 2 marks each
Section C: 7 questions of 3 marks each
Section D: 2 case-based questions of 4 marks each
Section E: 3 questions of 5 marks each
This release gives students an important opportunity to align their exam preparation with the board’s expectations. Using the sample paper to practice under timed conditions can improve writing speed, time management and familiarity with the exam style all of which are crucial on the day of the test.
Here are some practical suggestions: take the sample paper at least three times under real exam conditions, especially focusing on finishing within the set time. Work through the case-based questions carefully, since they carry higher marks and often test application rather than rote-learning. Ensure you cover all five sections rather than skipping smaller‐mark parts, because the board has made all questions compulsory.
In the bigger picture, this move by CBSE supports student readiness and transparency. By clearly signalling the format ahead of time, the board helps reduce anxiety, clarifies expectations and levels the playing field. For students this means not just studying content but also practising smartly: focusing on speed, accuracy and question-handling strategy.
In sum, the release of this sample paper is a timely aide for Class 12 Biology students. Proper use of it can make a meaningful difference in performance in what is often a pivotal exam year for many learners.
