The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) students’ examinations will be administered with the assistance of associated schools, as requested by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The board asked schools to give their permission to administer the public examinations in an official circular. For grades X, XII, and other vocational programs, NIOS administers public examinations twice a year.
According to the official announcement, “This is to notify you that the Ministry of Education (MoE)’s Department of School Education, NIOS, holds public examinations for secondary (class X) and senior secondary (class XII) and vocational courses twice a year, in April-May and October-November.” We respectfully ask that you cooperate and provide your permission for the NIOS Portal to administer public examinations in April and May of 2025.
The deadline for submitting consent forms is January 2, 2025.
NIOS, a project initiated by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in 1979, conducts annual exams using the services and infrastructure of CBSE-affiliated schools. The next public exams are scheduled to begin in April 2025. NIOS aims to cater to a diverse group of learners up to pre-degree level.
In 1986, the National Policy on Education suggested strengthening the open school system, extending open learning facilities at secondary level across the country. NIOS partners with 853 agencies providing facilities at their study centers for the implementation of its Open Basic Education (OBE) programme.
The organization provides resource support, such as adapting NIOS model curricula, study materials, joint certification, orientation of resource persons, and popularization of OBE, to voluntary agencies and Zila Saksharta Samities (ZSSs) for the OBE programme’s implementation.
