Chhattisgarh announces MBBS programme in Hindi, following similar initiatives by Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand.

Chhattisgarh is now preparing to launch an MBBS programme in Hindi, following in the footsteps of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Uttarakhand. State Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai made the announcement about the decision. On the occasion of "Hindi Diwas," Sai spoke to the media at his home and stated that his administration was pleased to carry out PM Modi's proposal to teach medical education in Hindi, as he had stated during a rally in Uttar Pradesh in 2022.

Beginning with the current academic year, Chhattisgarh will offer the MBBS programme in Hindi.

"The move will benefit students from rural areas since they mostly come from Hindi medium schools and face difficulty in medical courses despite being talented due to the use of English language. Studying in Hindi will strengthen their basics, help them develop a deep understanding of the subject and make them good doctors," Sai asserted.

Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the nation to offer Hindi textbooks for MBBS students. Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced Hindi textbooks for MBBS students on October 16, 2022, as part of the state government's ambitious plan to teach medicine in the language.

Uttarakhand was the second state in the nation to implement such a project, following Madhya Pradesh. Uttarakhand has already declared that its medical institutes will provide MBBS programs in Hindi.

The Bihar government also made the decision to provide Hindi-language Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programs. Students passing the NEET UG 2024 test will be enrolled in the new Hindi course in Bihar, which would adhere to the AIIMS Delhi syllabus.
