Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan launched the EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme in New Delhi, aimed at empowering economically disadvantaged students.
On 6th February 2024, the Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, launched the EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme in New Delhi.
The programme, as envisioned in the National Education Policy 2020, represents a whole-of-society approach to empowerment through access and opportunities of education, particularly for students from economically disadvantaged sections.
Nearly 14,000 students have successfully obtained admission to reputed institutes like IITs and NITs without joining any coaching centers, with many coming from marginalized families. The initiative has been initiated by the Ministry of Education, with 70 students being bestowed on a scholarship amounting to Rs. 5 crore.
Shri Pradhan emphasized that nation-building is a collective effort of all citizens, and corporates are enthusiastically coming forward to support and sponsor academically gifted and meritorious students lacking the financial means to pursue education. He hoped that more corporations would join forces to empower needy students and ignite the flame of education.
Sri Sanjay Kumar emphasized that students of Navodaya Vidyalaya consistently perform well in Board exams, with nearly 85% of these students coming from economically weaker families from rural areas. He also highlighted the importance of good pedagogy and opportunities for students to outshine anyone. This year, Summer Camps will be organized for students to inspire them in skilling activities and inviting sponsors to extend their support.
The Minister interacted with six JNV students and five corporate CSR sponsors, launching the innovative Vidyanjali Fintech Platform/portal and presenting scholarship letters to six meritorious NVS students.
The EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme, in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, guarantees access to high-quality learning systems by facilitating a seamless transition from secondary to higher education and extending financial support for the meritorious Navodaya Vidyalaya students who lack means.
