Indian education minister discusses AI integration with founders of edtech startups at major roundtable.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently chaired a roundtable discussion with founders of Indian startups working in artificial intelligence for education. The meeting aimed to explore how AI can be integrated into the education system in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020. It was an interactive session where ideas were openly exchanged and concerns were also discussed honestly.
The startups present at the roundtable are developing AI driven tools for school students, competitive exam aspirants and skill development learners. Some are building adaptive learning platforms, while others focus on personalised test preparation and language support systems. The goal is to make learning more efficient and accessible, especially for students from smaller towns and rural backgrounds.
During the discussion, Pradhan emphasised that AI should not replace teachers but support them. He highlighted that technology can help customise lessons based on each student’s learning pace. This approach could reduce learning gaps and make classrooms more inclusive. He also encouraged entrepreneurs to develop solutions that support India’s diverse languages and regional needs.
The minister stressed that India has the potential to create world class AI education tools that can serve both domestic and global markets. He urged startups to focus on ethical AI usage and data privacy while designing their platforms. According to him, innovation must always be responsible and student centric.
The roundtable also touched upon upcoming AI related events and collaborations that will further strengthen India’s education technology ecosystem. Many founders shared their challenges related to funding, regulatory approvals and scaling operations. The discussion helped create a sense of partnership between policymakers and innovators.
Overall, the meeting reflected the government’s commitment to blending technology with education reforms. If implemented properly, AI could significantly improve learning outcomes and create new opportunities for students across the country. The dialogue showed that there is serious intent to shape the future of education with thoughtful and inclusive technological advancement.
